Job Details
We are looking for a Business Development Manager to own revenue across the whole business. Not one product. All of it.
You will be responsible for filling the venue, filling the studios, & building the commercial partnerships that sit around our content. In the months before opening you will be selling a space nobody can walk into, on the strength of the vision, the reputation behind it & your own ability to build trust. After opening you will be converting a live, working venue into recurring revenue.
This is a hands-on, front-line commercial role. You will be prospecting, pitching, negotiating & closing. You will not be managing a team on day one, though the intention is that this role grows into a leadership position as the revenue does.
What you will be selling
• Event space hire. Launches, panels, filming days, brand activations, workshops, screenings, networking events & private hire.
• Podcast studio hire. From single sessions to fully managed shows across our four studios.
• Post-production & editing. Per-episode & retained content packages, sold to clients who film with us & clients who do not.
• Studio branding & naming rights. Brands taking permanent ownership of a room & its output.
• Partnerships & collaborations. Co-productions, revenue shares, channel partnerships & joint ventures.
• OFF SCRIPT sponsorship. Title, series & episode sponsorship of our own flagship show.
• Wider content sponsorship & brand deals. Across client shows, future originals & our event programming.
• Product placement. Physical product integrated into the set, the output & the venue.
• New revenue you find yourself. Watch-alongs, live viewing events, sports media partnerships & anything else you can build a case for. We are open.
Key responsibilities
Revenue & pipeline
• Own & deliver the revenue target across all commercial streams
• Build & manage a qualified pipeline from a standing start, with accurate forecasting
• Prospect, pitch, negotiate & close. End to end, with full ownership of your deals
• Secure pre-opening commitments & founding partner deals ahead of the November 2026 launch
Client acquisition
• Identify & target the right clients across corporates, agencies, brands, founders, media companies, government-adjacent bodies & talent
• Run consistent outbound activity through direct outreach, LinkedIn, events & referral
• Represent Spotlight at industry events, launches & networking across Dubai
• Convert the founder’s existing network into commercial conversations rather than waiting to be handed leads
Partnerships & sponsorship
• Build & sell sponsorship packages for OFF SCRIPT & our wider content slate
• Structure studio branding, product placement & category-exclusive partnership deals
• Negotiate commercial terms that protect margin & the Spotlight brand
• Manage partners after signature so deals renew rather than lapse
Commercial operations
• Maintain the CRM properly. Clean data, accurate stages, honest forecasts
• Build & refine our rate cards, proposals & sales collateral
• Report on pipeline, conversion & revenue to the CEO on an agreed cadence
• Feed market intelligence back into the business. Pricing, competitors & what clients are actually asking for
About you
Essential
• Proven business development or sales experience with a track record of hitting & beating targets
• Experience selling in one or more of: media, production, events, venues, sponsorship, advertising or agency services
• Comfortable with genuine new business. Cold outreach, first meetings & building a pipeline from nothing
• Able to sell a vision, not just a product with a price list
• Strong commercial judgement. You understand margin, deal structure & the difference between revenue & profit
• Excellent written & verbal English, & the presence to hold a room with senior decision makers
• Self-directed. You will not be micromanaged & you should not need to be
• Based in the UAE or able to relocate & work on site in Al Quoz
Desirable
• An existing network of brand, agency or marketing decision makers in the UAE
• Understanding of the podcast, content or creator economy
• Experience selling sponsorship, rights or partnership deals rather than services alone
• Arabic language ability
• UAE driving licence
• Experience in a start-up, launch or pre-opening environment
Who this is not for
This role is not right for someone who needs a warm inbound pipeline, a finished product, a large existing team or a fixed playbook. There will be ambiguity.
Some months you will be selling something that does not physically exist yet. If that sounds uncomfortable rather than exciting, this is not the role.
