We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Steward / Dishwasher to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and ensure a constant supply of clean equipment for service. Reporting to the Chief Steward or Kitchen Supervisor, the successful candidate will keep the kitchen running smoothly from behind the scenes, a role service simply cannot function without.
The core of the role is washing and sanitising. The Steward washes dishes, cutlery, glassware, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment by hand or using dishwashing machines, following correct washing, rinsing, and sanitising procedures so that items are safe for reuse. Heavily soiled pots and cooking equipment are scraped and soaked before washing, and items are dried, sorted, and returned to their correct storage location or station promptly so that chefs and servers are never left waiting during service.
