Job Description: Estimation Engineer/Quantity Surveyor
Position Overview:
A landscaping company in the UAE is looking for an Estimation Engineer / Quantity Surveyor to join its team, The Estimation Engineer/Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing inquiries, preparing estimates, drafting proposals, and ensuring smooth coordination between clients and operations teams. This role requires precision, adherence to procedures, and effective communication to deliver accurate and competitive estimations while supporting the company’s business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Inquiry Management:
• Review the scope of work upon receiving inquiries and acknowledge receipt.
• Log inquiries in the SIM (Sales Inquiry Management) control sheet.
• Coordinate and schedule site visits.

2. Estimation Categories:
• Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC):
o Indoor Maintenance.
o Outdoor Maintenance.
o Water Features Maintenance.

• Variation Orders (VO):
o Indoor Variation Orders.
o Outdoor Variation Orders.
o Water Features Variation Orders.

• Projects (IP/OP/WFP):
o Indoor Project Works.
o Outdoor Landscaping & Irrigation Project Works.
o Water Features Project Works.

• Renewal Estimation:
o Analyse previous AMC estimations and revise them with potential discounts during contract renewals.
3. Estimation Procedure:
• Prepare BOQ (Bill of Quantity) with inputs from the operations and site visit teams.
• Obtain material quotes from suppliers (minimum three quotes for each material category).
• Develop detailed estimation sheets, including clear formulas and defined scopes of work.
• Cross-check estimations using the verification checklist.
• Submit estimations to higher management for approval and revise as per their feedback.

4. Proposal Preparation:
• Draft proposals in the company’s standard format after estimation approval.
• Verify proposals against the proposal checklist.
• Share proposals with clients and follow up to track their status.

5. Order Confirmation:
• Process client approvals through POs, LOAs, LOIs, or email confirmations.
• Communicate order confirmations to the operations team, including job codes, approved scopes, and material/manpower details.
• Adhere to the order confirmation procedure.

6. Reporting:
• Generate and maintain:
o Monthly Dashboard Reports.
o SIM Reports.
o Proposal Follow-Up Reports.
o Monthly AMC Value Reports for invoicing.
o VO/Project Status Reports.
o SMD MOM (Minutes of Meeting).

7. Additional Responsibilities:
• Conduct accurate surveys for landscape and irrigation projects.
• Establish precise legal site boundaries based on deeds and titles.
• Prepare as-built drawings for BOQ analysis and quantity determination.
• Analyze material, labor, and time requirements for effective project planning.
• Manage procurement processes, issue inquiries, and select vendors.
• Provide technical support to clients and resolve technical queries.
• Develop project schedules and monitor progress.
• Verify contractor bills and certify final quantities for payment.
• Prepare billing-related documents and maintain financial transparency.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to resolve challenges.
• Prepare method statements, risk assessments, and project reports.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in landscaping, irrigation, water features will be added advantage
• Proficiency in creating BOQs and estimation sheets with detailed scopes of work.
• Strong understanding of construction materials, labor costs, and scheduling principles.
• Proven experience in estimation, quantity surveying, or a related engineering role.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation abilities.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of Primavera, AutoCAD, or other project/technical software is an advantage
