Job Details

We are looking for an experienced and highly organized Head of Production to oversee manufacturing activities and coordinate the overall operational requirements of our steel manufacturing facility.

The successful candidate will be responsible for production planning, factory management, material procurement coordination, inventory control, quality assurance, and ensuring uninterrupted production operations.

The candidate must have strong experience in manufacturing, preferably within the steel industry, with the ability to coordinate effectively between production, warehouse, procurement, finance, sales, and logistics departments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Management
- Oversee daily factory operations and manage the complete production process.
- Develop production schedules based on sales orders, delivery commitments, and material availability.
- Ensure production targets are achieved within required timelines.
- Optimize machine utilization, production capacity, and workforce productivity.
- Monitor production output and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Ensure production activities are properly coordinated with warehouse and procurement teams.

2. Procurement & Material Planning
- Coordinate with production and warehouse teams to understand material requirements.
- Ensure timely procurement based on production schedules and sales commitments.
- Prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with company approval procedures.
- Ensure supplier order confirmations are received and properly recorded.
- Maintain procurement planning aligned with inventory levels and stock requirements.
- Prevent production delays by ensuring material availability at all times.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of ordered materials.
- Coordinate with management and finance regarding procurement requirements and approvals.

3. Inventory & Warehouse Coordination
- Maintain proper inventory planning to prevent overstocking and stock shortages.
- Coordinate material receipts and verification with the warehouse team.
- Monitor raw material consumption and ensure proper stock control.
- Ensure materials are issued to production according to approved requirements.
- Coordinate regular stock checks and investigate inventory discrepancies.
- Maintain proper records of material movements and stock requirements.

4. Quality Control & Material Inspection
- Ensure all manufactured products meet company quality standards and customer specifications.
- Ensure purchased materials meet company quality standards and specifications.
- Coordinate with warehouse and production teams for material inspections.
- Identify non-conforming materials and initiate supplier complaints.
- Handle rejected material cases and coordinate returns with suppliers.
- Work with the quality control team to minimize production defects and customer complaints.
- Support ISO 9001 quality management standards and procedures.

5. Factory & Workforce Management
- Manage production supervisors, machine operators, technicians, and factory workers.
- Allocate manpower and machinery according to production requirements.
- Establish performance targets and monitor employee productivity.
- Ensure proper factory discipline, attendance, and accountability.
- Train and develop production staff to improve operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety procedures.

6. Machinery & Maintenance
- Ensure all production machinery and equipment are properly maintained.
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Minimize machine breakdowns and production downtime.
- Identify opportunities to improve machinery performance and production capacity.
- Ensure maintenance activities are properly scheduled without affecting production commitments.

7. Cost Control & Operational Efficiency
- Monitor raw material consumption and minimize wastage.
- Improve production efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs.
- Monitor production output, scrap rates, and machine utilization.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement corrective measures.
- Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machinery, and raw materials.

8. Interdepartmental & Operational Coordination
- Coordinate between production, warehouse, finance, sales, procurement, and logistics teams.
- Ensure smooth execution of daily operational requirements.
- Handle urgent operational and material requirement issues and provide immediate solutions.
- Ensure production and delivery schedules are aligned with sales commitments.
- Escalate critical supply chain and operational issues to management when required.
- Support internal audits and Quality Management System (QMS) compliance activities.
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting across operational departments.

9. Reporting & Management
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production and operational reports.
- Monitor production targets against actual output.
- Report material consumption, inventory levels, wastage, and operational costs.
- Monitor procurement requirements and outstanding supplier orders.
- Report operational delays, supply chain issues, and production performance to senior management.
- Recommend improvements to overall factory operations and management procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Strong experience in steel manufacturing and roll-forming operations is highly preferred.
- Experience managing multiple production lines and large factory workforces.
- Good understanding of procurement, inventory management, material planning, and warehouse operations.
- Knowledge of production planning, quality control, preventive maintenance, and cost management.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and Quality Management Systems.
- Strong leadership, organizational, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
- Ability to work independently, make operational decisions, and meet strict deadlines.
