Heavy Truck Mechanic – Prime Movers & Diesel Tankers
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Heavy Truck Mechanic specializing particularly Scania, Volvo, and MAN 6x4 trucks. Main duties are to maintain, diagnose, repair, and overhaul our fleet of heavy-duty trucks and diesel tankers.
The successful candidate must possess strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diagnostic capabilities, with proven hands-on experience in heavy commercial vehicles and tanker systems. The role requires the ability to work independently, troubleshoot complex faults efficiently, and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure maximum fleet uptime, reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults on heavy-duty prime movers.
2- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and servicing, including engine oil and filter changes, brake inspections, lubrication, tire inspections, and general vehicle condition checks.
3 - Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul major components, including:
Engines
Transmissions and gearboxes
Clutches
Braking systems
Suspension systems
Steering systems
Differentials and driveline components
4- Perform computerized diagnostics and fault-finding using Jaltest diagnostic equipment or equivalent heavy-vehicle diagnostic systems.
5- Diagnose, repair, replace, and service components including fuel pumps, injectors, alternators, starters, air compressors, gearboxes, sensors, and related electrical components.
6- Maintain accurate maintenance and service records, including faults identified, repairs completed, spare parts replaced, and recommendations for further corrective or preventive action.
Diesel Tanker Systems
1-Perform Scully system diagnostics, repair, calibration, and troubleshooting, including tanker overfill-prevention and related safety systems.
2- Carry out inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of tanker loading/unloading valves and associated piping components.
3- Perform Robin PTO pump installation, servicing, repair, and troubleshooting, including PTO and associated pumping-system components.
4- Test, maintain, troubleshoot, and report on battery and electrical control systems.
5- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain GPS and fleet-tracking devices.
6- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair vehicle camera surveillance and monitoring systems, including DVR/MDVR and associated equipment.
Candidate Requirements
1- Minimum 5 years of relevant hands-on experience in heavy truck and diesel tanker maintenance.
2- Strong experience with Scania, Volvo, and MAN prime movers.
3- Excellent mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and diagnostic skills.
4- Proven experience using Jaltest or equivalent diagnostic equipment.
5- Strong knowledge of diesel tanker equipment, pumping systems, valves, electrical systems, and safety devices.
6-Good understanding of fuel-handling procedures and applicable safety standards.
7- Ability to independently diagnose faults and carry out repairs with minimum supervision.
8- Strong focus on preventive maintenance, vehicle reliability, safety, and minimizing fleet downtime.
9- Practical experience preparing heavy trucks and tankers for RTA inspection and passing requirements in the UAE.
10- Previous UAE heavy-vehicle/tanker fleet experience is strongly preferred.
