Summary Objective
The Project Accountant is responsible for the financial management and control of the organization’s projects. This role involves collaborating closely with project teams to monitor financial, ensure compliance with company policies, and maintain accurate reporting. The candidate supports various departments by providing the budgeting, forecasting, and analysis necessary for successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities
• Maintain accurate project accounting records including contracts, change orders, WBS structures, and cost allocations in SAP S/4HANA
• Update and maintain sales orders in SAP; track client billings, retainage, and unbilled revenue; reconcile progress billings to project cost reports
• Prepare monthly project review packages (cost to date, EAC, margin trends, cash position, change orders) for project managers and leadership
• Monitor project financial performance, investigate variances, and provide variance reports and analysis to stakeholders
• Collaborate with project managers and procurement to align costs with project budgets and identify financial/schedule risks
• Conduct month-end closing procedures, including Project Cost Reports and WIP schedules
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures; work continuously with the Service team to drive policy implementation and resolve non-compliance issues
• Support external audits by providing necessary documentation, responding to audit requests, and assisting in addressing audit findings
• Provide financial guidance and support to project teams as needed
• Close out completed project accounts and reconcile final costs
• Review project-related financial transactions (invoices, purchases, timesheets) and flag discrepancies

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3-5 years of project accounting experience, specifically within service, maintenance, or EPC sectors.
• Proficiency in SAP preferred
• Strong Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
• Job cost and project accounting concepts.
