Job Title: Cost Estimator
Job Brief
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Estimator to join our growing team. In this role, you will accurately calculate the total costs, time, and labor required for our upcoming projects. You will analyze technical documents, collaborate with vendors, and prepare competitive bids that balance cost efficiency with high-quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Project Analysis: Review blueprints, architectural drawings, technical specifications, and project proposals to understand the full scope of work.
Cost Calculation: Quantify necessary materials, specialized equipment, labor hours, and production time.
Vendor & Subcontractor Management: Solicit, collect, and evaluate competitive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential financial risks, material shortages, or timeline delays, and build appropriate contingencies into budgets.
Bid Preparation: Compile and present clear, detailed cost estimates, budget breakdowns, and final bid proposals for management and clients.
Cost Tracking: Monitor ongoing project expenses against initial estimates to identify variances and improve future forecasting accuracy.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Analytical Thinking: Exceptional math, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
Technical Literacy: Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with industry-standard estimating software (e.g., Planswift, Bluebeam, WinEst) and advanced Excel.
Communication & Negotiation: Strong verbal and written communication skills to negotiate effectively with vendors and present data to stakeholders.
Time Management: Proven ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and meet strict bidding deadlines.
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Finance, or a related field, paired with relevant industry experience.
