📋 GED Test Structure & Content
The GED® exam consists of four separate subject modules, which can be taken individually or together. The total testing time is just over 7 hours .

Reasoning Through Language Arts (RLA)	150 minutes	Includes 45-minute extended response (essay); 10-minute break; assesses reading comprehension, grammar, and argument construction 
Mathematical Reasoning	115 minutes	Two parts: first 5 questions (no calculator), remaining 41 questions (calculator allowed); covers quantitative (45%) and algebraic (55%) problem-solving 
Science	90 minutes	Focuses on life science, physical science, and Earth/space science; calculator allowed 
Social Studies	70 minutes	Covers civics/government, U.S. history, economics, and geography; calculator allowed 
Question Types
The test uses a variety of formats beyond traditional multiple choice, including:

Drag-and-drop and drop-down selections

Hot spot (selecting an area on an image)

Fill-in-the-blank

Short answer and extended response (essay) 

🎯 Scoring & Passing Levels
To earn your GED credential, you need a minimum score of 145 on each of the four subjects . The score scale ranges from 100 to 200 per subject.

Score Range	Level	Benefits
100 – 144	Below Passing	Did not demonstrate high school-level skills; requires retake 
145 – 164	GED® Passing Score	Earns your high school equivalency credential 
165 – 174	GED® College Ready	Demonstrates college-level readiness; may qualify for placement test waivers 
175 – 200	GED® College Ready + Credit	May qualify for up to 10 college credit hours (3 credits for math, 3 for science, 3 for social studies, 1 for language arts) 
⚠️ Important: UAE Equivalency Restriction
Critical information for GED students in the UAE: The UAE Ministry of Education has confirmed that certificates issued through GED programmes abroad will NOT be recognized for equivalency in the UAE .

This means:

If you are planning to use your GED to apply to UAE government universities or for official equivalency of your high school qualification, it may not be accepted.

You should check directly with the specific university or employer to confirm their policy on GED credentials.

For admission to international universities or private institutions in the UAE, GED may still be accepted—always confirm with the admissions office.
