Description

Authentic hand-carved solid hardwood figure from Northern Thailand, originally used as a temple or shrine attendant / devotional figure.
• Height: approx. 180 cm
• Material: solid hardwood (hand carved from a single trunk section)
• Origin: Northern Thailand (purchased from an antique shop in Las Vegas 15 years ago, for aed 45000)
• Estimated age: 1880-1930
• Condition: naturally aged with original patina; base shows long-term ground contact consistent with traditional storage / burial practices. No modern restoration or artificial aging.

This is not a Buddha, but a traditional temple attendant / devata figure shown in a respectful prayer (wai) posture, representing reverence, humility, and spiritual presence.
The piece is entirely solid wood (not hollow, not laminated), heavy, and structurally stable. Surface wear, texture variation, and soft erosion at the base are part of the original aging and historical character.
