About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional Head Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of our restaurant operations. This position requires much more than operational management; we are looking for a trusted leader who can build a strong team, maintain high professional standards, drive business growth, and represent the values of our restaurant every day.
As the Head Manager, you will serve as the bridge between ownership, staff, and customers. You will be responsible for ensuring that every aspect of the restaurant operates efficiently, professionally, and profitably while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for guests and a respectful working environment for employees.
Our restaurant proudly serves Ethiopian cuisine and hospitality. While prior experience in Ethiopian restaurants is not mandatory, candidates who understand Ethiopian culture, food traditions, customer expectations, and hospitality practices will be viewed favorably. Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Development
Provide strong, consistent, and professional leadership to all restaurant employees.
Build a positive workplace culture based on respect, accountability, teamwork, and mutual support.
Recruit, interview, hire, train, mentor, and evaluate staff members.
Ensure employees understand their roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations.
Motivate team members to achieve high levels of productivity and customer service.
Address employee concerns fairly, professionally, and promptly.
Develop future leaders within the organization through coaching and mentorship.
Restaurant Operations
Oversee all day-to-day restaurant activities.
Ensure smooth coordination between front-of-house and back-of-house teams.
Monitor service quality and operational efficiency throughout business hours.
Identify operational challenges and implement practical solutions.
Establish and maintain clear operational procedures and standards.
Ensure the restaurant consistently delivers an exceptional guest experience.
Customer Service Excellence
Create an environment where guests feel welcomed, valued, and appreciated.
Monitor customer satisfaction and service quality.
Handle customer feedback, complaints, and special requests professionally.
Resolve complex situations with diplomacy and sound judgment.
Build long-term customer loyalty through excellent hospitality and service standards.
Promote a customer-first culture among all employees.
Financial and Business Management
Manage budgets, operating costs, and financial performance.
Monitor revenue, expenses, labor costs, and profitability.
Implement systems to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
Analyze business performance and identify opportunities for growth.
Develop strategies to increase sales and improve customer retention.
Ensure responsible use of company resources and assets.
Assist ownership with long-term business planning and decision-making.
Inventory and Asset Management
Oversee purchasing and inventory control processes.
Monitor stock levels and prevent shortages or over-ordering.
Ensure proper handling, storage, and tracking of inventory.
Protect company property and equipment.
Maintain accurate operational records and reports.
Compliance and Professional Standards
Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, labor, and licensing regulations.
Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and workplace safety.
Ensure all staff members follow company policies and procedures.
Promote ethical business practices and professional conduct throughout the organization.
Marketing and Community Engagement
Work with ownership to support marketing initiatives and promotional campaigns.
Help strengthen the restaurant's reputation within the local community.
Identify opportunities to attract new customers and increase repeat business.
Support efforts to enhance brand recognition and customer engagement.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 7–10 years of management experience in hospitality, restaurant operations, food service, retail, or a related field.
Demonstrated success leading teams and managing daily operations.
Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Strong understanding of budgeting, financial management, and operational planning.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Professional appearance and conduct.
High level of emotional intelligence and people-management skills.
Ability to earn the trust and respect of employees, customers, suppliers, and ownership.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in Ethiopian restaurants or with Ethiopian cuisine.
Familiarity with Ethiopian culture, hospitality traditions, and customer expectations.
Experience serving multicultural and international customer bases.
Multilingual abilities are an advantage.
Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related educational background.
