Job Title: Barista / Breakfast Cook
Location: UAE
Employment Type: Full-Time
Main Objective of the Role:
Prepare and serve high-quality breakfast dishes, with a particular focus on egg-based specialities, while preparing and serving coffee and other beverages. The role is responsible for maintaining consistency in taste, presentation, food quality, hygiene and service efficiency, ensuring an excellent breakfast experience in line with the establishment’s standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook and present a variety of breakfast dishes, particularly egg specialities such as omelettes, scrambled eggs, poached eggs, fried eggs, boiled eggs, Eggs Benedict and other egg-based preparations.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of egg cookery techniques, cooking temperatures, textures and presentation standards.
- Prepare breakfast accompaniments, including toast, sauces, garnishes and other items required to complete each dish.
- Follow established recipes, portion sizes, preparation methods and presentation guidelines to ensure consistent food quality.
- Prepare and serve espresso-based beverages, including espresso, Americano, cappuccino, latte, flat white and other coffee specialities.
- Operate coffee machines, grinders and related equipment, ensuring proper extraction, milk texturing, beverage temperature and presentation.
- Coordinate food and beverage preparation to ensure orders are accurate and served promptly, particularly during busy breakfast periods.
- Complete daily mise en place, ensuring ingredients, coffee supplies, utensils and equipment are prepared before service.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, personal hygiene, sanitation and safe food-handling practices.
- Monitor ingredient freshness, stock levels and storage conditions, following appropriate stock rotation procedures and minimising food waste.
- Keep workstations, cooking equipment, coffee machines, utensils and preparation areas clean, organised and sanitised throughout the shift.
- Follow company standard operating procedures, recipes, quality standards and portion-control requirements.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and service teams to support smooth operations and a positive customer experience.
- Handle customer requests, dietary requirements and food modifications appropriately, communicating allergen concerns to the relevant team members.
- Report ingredient shortages, equipment faults, quality concerns and operational issues to the supervisor.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including preparation, cleaning, stock checks, equipment care and workstation organisation.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a barista, breakfast cook or in a similar food and beverage role.
- Practical experience in preparing a variety of breakfast dishes, particularly egg-based specialities.
- Good knowledge of espresso preparation, coffee equipment operation and milk steaming techniques.
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene, sanitation and safe food-handling practices.
- Ability to work efficiently and maintain consistent quality during busy service periods.
- Good communication skills, teamwork and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage food and beverage preparation simultaneously while maintaining service standards.
- Flexible, reliable and willing to assist with general kitchen and service operations.
- Relevant culinary or barista training is an advantage.
