AeroShield™ is an advanced, dry 5-layer self-renewing thermal skin engineered for reusable spacecraft, high-temperature launch vehicles, and advanced aerospace testing. Made by : Salim Alharthi - Said Alwishahi - Mohammed Adil Ambalan - Made for GEN302: Fundamentals of Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Sustainability (Project 22 — Space Challenge: Better Rockets), this design provides an automated, mechanical surface-restoration alternative to risky liquid chemical self-healing approaches. Key Features & Commercial Value 5-Layer Architecture: Features an outer reflective ceramic-fiber film, reserve micro-patch layer, conductive sensing grid, mechanical slider system, and insulating structural base. Dual-Signal Autonomous Detection: Combines trace continuity and surface temperature readings to detect localized cracks or hotspots while preventing false alarms. Automated Coverage & Verification: Mechanically slides an intact reserve patch over damaged areas and sends status confirmation back to controllers. Low-Power & Modular: Low standby power usage during flight; allows post-flight replacement of single modules to reduce maintenance waste.
